How to collaborate remotely
The future of work relies on us to build solutions for our unique pain points. What needs improvement in your workflow?
In this episode, we are joined by Rajiv Ayyangar, the founder and CEO of Tandem - one of the first viable examples of a virtual office.
While Rajiv and his co-founders Tim and Bernat were building a cryptocurrency tracker, Rajiv noticed the lack of flow in communication when they started working from home more. The first prototype of Tandem was built to solve that issue.
Together with Rajiv, we will discuss:
- The characteristics and importance of a functioning virtual workspace.
- How communication creates a feeling of presence when working in an early-stage start-up.
- How the world of online gaming gives us an insight into the future.
- Building trust remotely.
- Group creativity in a remote team.

About your hosts
Co-founder & CEO
Sondre Rasch co-founded SafetyWing together with Sarah Sandnes and Hans Kjellby. Born in Bergen, Norway, he studied economics and computer science, before starting work as a policy advisor for the government of Norway advising on social policies. After getting frustrated with the slow pace of government change, Sondre first founded SuperSide (YC W16), a platform for freelance designers. It was here he discovered the lack of a safety net for online remote workers. SafetyWing was then born with the aim of building a global social safety net.
Chemical Engineer by degree, Rajiv was a PM at Delectable and a Data Scientist at Aviate (acquired by Yahoo) where he met Tim and Bernat and launched Tandem - a virtual office for remote teams.
