Ep. 8

Will the new remote workforce go nomadic?

Now that a large fraction of the world is no longer tied to their physical workplace, will we see a surge in people traveling to work?

In this episode, we are joined by Pieter Levels, the founder of NomadList and RemoteOK. As one of the founders of the modern remote work movement, Pieter is offering great advice on leading a happy and fulfilled life as a nomad, as well as pointing out the most striking developments in the scene as a whole.

Topics we covered:

  • Are all remote workers future nomads?

  • The evolution of nomadic communities and nomad-hubs.

  • The benefits of bootstrapping your startup vs VC investing.

  • Predictions of the future of remote work and digital nomads.

  • Finding purpose, meaning and happiness as a nomad.

If you are a remote worker thinking about becoming nomadic, this episode offers information on what this life looks like and how new developments open up additional opportunities for a nomad lifestyle - even as a family.

Co-founder & CEO
SafetyWing

Sondre Rasch co-founded SafetyWing together with Sarah Sandnes and Hans Kjellby. Born in Bergen, Norway, he studied economics and computer science, before starting work as a policy advisor for the government of Norway advising on social policies. After getting frustrated with the slow pace of government change, Sondre first founded SuperSide (YC W16), a platform for freelance designers. It was here he discovered the lack of a safety net for online remote workers. SafetyWing was then born with the aim of building a global social safety net.
